About
In the winter of 1983, the Snapper Point Angling Club Inc. of Mornington Victoria began to plan a public fishing competition that would get anglers to go fishing at the start of the Snapper Season.
The old adage that says - When the Tea Tree Blooms, The Snapper are in the Bay was a key to planning the event.
The Tree Tree usually blooms in the first week of November so the competition date was established as the Saturday before Melbourne Cup Day and has continued on this day ever since.
The competition has grown from small beginnings on the water front at Mornington in 1984 to becoming one of the largest and most prestigious events on the Australian fishing calendar.
The 30th Annual competition was held in 2013. The Snapper Point Angling Club Inc. invites you to enter the competition this year be part of a fantastic experience that brings anglers back year after year.
Watch this site in August for details of how to enter the competition. Get into Fishing; its fun, gets you outdoors, gets you exercising and gets your heart pumping when the reel screams.
