History

The Snapper Point Angling Club was formed on 29th July 1982

The  club was formed in 1982 by a goup of local fishermen who wanted a genuine fishing club.

The first Club President was Ray Watson and some of the founding members are still an active member of the club today.

The club originally held its meetings in the old hall that was sited at Mornington Park. The club logo was designed by Gary Sissons.

The club held its first Snapper competition on the 10th October 1982 and the winner was Lee Kelly with a snapper weighing 6.35kg

Two years after the club was formed it held its inaugural Tea Tree Snapper Competition which ran for 33 years. The competition grew over the years from its humble beginings that started off in Mornington Park to one of the biggest of its kind in the southern hemosphere.

The club continues to thrive with more than 40 active members. We have our regular monthly meetings at Devilbend Golf Club in Mooroduc and have a year-round syllabus of activites for our members, friends and guests.
